[DOWNLOAD] Grizzly Bear’s acoustic WNYC set

May 22nd, 2009 by Matt

In about half a week I’ll finally be able to explain to the customers at CD Central why Grizzly Bear is my favorite young/new band. I say that because after weeks of playing Veckatimest over the speakers, I can finally hand them a copy of the album when they ask me who we’re listening to, rather than just jabbering on and on about how they’re such a great band, but this album isn’t out yet but this other one called Yellow House is about as good… Until I realize they’ve wondered off. Trust me, it’s a lot better to hand them a copy of the album and let the music do all the talking.

And that’s just what Grizzly Bear have done with their WNYC set. Sure, there’s an interview, but these songs tell enough of a story. I mean, just the low piano parts on “Foreground” are enough to get me excited. They’re some of the best songs of this decade, performed acoustically by a supremely talented band just entering their prime. What more do you want?
