Wolf Eyes annouce intimate Lex show, prepare your ears…

May 11th, 2009 by Matt

I’m going to do a fun experiment at this show. Wolf Eyes are playing at a skate shop about one block from my house in early June. Towards the end of their set, I’m going to leave the venue, take out my ear plugs and walk back to my house and see how far along I can still hear them. My bet is that I make it all the way upstairs and with a pillow over my head before I have trouble.

WRFL presents Wolf Eyes
Friday, June 5
The Void Skateshop
Lexington, KY
All Ages – $5 – 9pm

Last time Wolf Eyes played in town was under my tenure as Promotions Director at WRFL. Someone contacted them about playing (wasn’t hard — Mike is from here*) and we quickly arranged a show. I was so tired after an afternoon of getting stuff ready for the show that I fell asleep during their set. That’s right; I fell asleep during one of the loudest shows I’ve ever seen. That’s what college does to you, folks.

*Mike Connelly is a former WRFL DJ who now plays in Wolf Eyes. I point this out only because we have a copy of an old Wolf Eyes album (EP?) that was reviewed by Mike a few years before he joined the band. I’ve always thought the station should frame it as both a celebration of an alumnus and an encouragement for people to do more album reviews (“Maybe Animal Collective will let you join if you review this album… It worked for Mike!”)
