I’ve been jamming the Thermal’s new album Now We Can See for weeks now and realized that I never gave it its proper due on YANP.

Going into SXSW, I hadn’t yet heard the new Thermals album and wasn’t all that solid on their back catalogue. I knew a few hits, but that was it. So when they played “Now We Can See” and the crowd started singing along I just assumed it was a really awesome older tune that I’d never heard. But now I know that probably half the fans had already downloaded it and the rest (myself included) just picked up the chorus chant and carried it along with the band. After all, it’s the simpleness that makes it so addictive. “Now We Can See” is like Ted Leo’s Shake the Sheets if you amped up the pop factor by about 4x.
