[SXSW] Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head @ One Night in Austin 3.21.09
March 30th, 2009 by Matt

Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head was the last band I saw at SXSW. Shortly after their set I copped out and wound up getting a ride back to my hotel with Matt, the Ice Cream Man. But before hopping in the ice cream truck I saw a very sweet show by NPSH.
I only knew one NPSH song, “Beard Lust,” but enjoyed the full set. Even though NPSH are still a relatively small band, they ran, jumped and demanded your attention like they were superstars. They managed to combine the sleek, glitz of Perez Hilton’s event with the wild, cool, free-spirited nature of SXSW. Also, I’ve got to say that they did a great job of mic-sharing. I’m not 100% sure who was the lead singer because it seemed like everyone got a turn to sing and show off on the stage. Nothing like a little equality with your rock.
