My good buddy Brad picked me up from the airport today in Austin and was kind enough to drop me off at my hotel. On the way there (while picking up some Sonic) he played a CD of some great new stuff. One band that caught my ear was Pigeon Detectives.

I think the song I fell for on the drive home was actually “Everybody Wants Me,” but their myspace led me to check out “I’m Not Sorry.” It’s a part of a small sub-genre of music that I like to call “sounds like the Arctic Monkeys, but without the parts I don’t like.” It’s a growing genre of music that has a bright future ahead of it, as long as it stays literally true to its name (note: I don’t completely hate the Arctic Monkeys, but I’ve never really fallen for them).
