After years of waiting, I’ve finally been able to listen to The Law of the Playground, the follow-up to The Boy Least Likely To’s awesome debut, The Best Party Ever. And though there’s nothing quite as awesome as “My Tiger My Heart” or “I’m Glad I Hitched My Apple Wagon to Your Star,” it’s still an incredible record. If you dug the original, you’ll dig the new one as well.
MP3: The Boy Least Likely To – Saddle Up
The Boy Least Likely To seem to either write songs like they wish they were six or wish they were sixty. In “Saddle Up,” it’s a little bit of both. On one hand, they talk about how they never wanted to grow up, but they also say they’re looking forward to settling down “somewhere nice and quiet” where he an show vegetables. And the weirdest thing is that the result makes perfect sense for anyone between 20-40.
The Law of the Playground comes out April 14.
