[VIDEO] M. Ward: “Never Had Nobody Like You” on Letterman
February 18th, 2009 by Matt
Thanks to Each Note Secure for posting this video of M. Ward’s great performance on Letterman last night. I still haven’t heard Hold Time (because I’m a schmuck, apparently) but this song is just awesome. Matt must know it’s golden too, because he looks like the most confident guy in the world on that stage.

Today Pitchfork premiered a totally rad song off the new Swan Lake album Enemy Mine. An hour later, I woke up and enjoyed it; now I’m sharing it with you! Isn’t it wild the way the internet works… MP3: Swan Lake – A Hand at Dusk Spencer Krug is a magic man. How else do [...]

Peelander-Z announce new album P-Pop High School
February 18th, 2009 by Matt
Japanese costumed punks Peelander-Z just announced the release of their new album P-Pop High School is April 14. I’m a big fan of their music (and especially of their live show) and will be looking forward to it. Peelander-Z will also be at SXSW again this year. After the great show they put on for [...]

[MP3] Ivana XL: “Always Tell The Truth”
February 18th, 2009 by Matt
Ivana just emailed me two songs that she said were recorded “10 hours ago” (making that yesterday afternoon). This is the first of the pair, its twin to follow sometime this week. I hesitate to call it my favorite song she’s recorded since there are others that usually get stuck in my head, but I [...]

February 17th, 2009 by Matt
It seems lately I’ve capped my nights with about an hour or so of Wikipediaing. Yesterday’s topic was on various Marvel Comics characters and plots; today’s subject was Harry Nilsson. One surprising fact I learned was that Nilsson wrote one of my favorite Monkeys tracks, “Cuddly Toy.” After Youtubing around for a sample of it, [...]

NEW Yeah Yeah Yeahs: “Zero”
February 17th, 2009 by Matt
I don’t pay the closest attention to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but I’ll always listen to a new release by them (eventually). I loved their last EP and they’ve yet to put out a bad album; from the looks of “Zero” their new record It’s Blitz will keep the streak alive. Thanks to Ultra8201 for [...]

[MP3] Frenemies: “New Room”
February 16th, 2009 by Matt
Man, I’ve had this Frenemies track sitting in my draft box for so long (maybe a month) that I’ve forgotten where I found it. Well whoever sent it to me, thanks so much. “New Room” is a simple indie rock track that sounds what I imagine it was like to be an indie rock fan [...]

Today on Twitter (where all bands reveal their new album details these days), Roots drummer ?uestlove gave an enumerated list of previous Roots albums before revealing that album 11 would be How I Got Over with a release date of ??/???? I wouldn’t bet on this (nor would I take it as an indication that [...]
