[VIDEO] Microsoft’s ad for Songsmith is so bad that it seems like a horrible parody but is, in fact, the real ad

Thanks to my friend Cody for passing this along. The video for Microsoft’s new program Songsmith is so horrible that I was sure someone had made a parody ad shortly after the program was announced. Songsmith is a program where you sing into the microphone and it creates instrumentals to back you up. The computer geek in me says “neat,” but the music lover in me says “what a horrible abomination that’s leading us further to the Apocalypse.” But on this video, both sides agree: truly a scary train wreck. They gloss over their real key demographic (lonely/bored tweenage girls) and shoot for business executives and people in REAL BANDS.

Oh, and to contrast this a bit: the new edition of Apple’s GarageBand teaches you how to play instruments. But yeah, who wants to learn how to play a guitar when they can have a horrible program make every song song like the demo button on an electronic keyboard.
