As we all recover from another Christmas under our belt, here’s a great video to unwind to. This is Iggy Pop and David Bowie performing and chatting on the Dinah Shore show in 1977. The embeded video has the chat between she and Iggy (with Bowie occasionally doubling over in laughter as he smokes at the keyboard), while this video has their performance of “Sister Midnight” and the chat between all three of them.
Highlights include Bowie trying to explain the difference between their music and coming as close as he can by explaining that his music comes from here, as he waves his hand around his face, and Iggy’s comes from there, waving his hand around his stomach and crotch. Also the last exchange in the second video makes it all worthwhile
Dinah: “Do you think you’ve influenced anybody?”
Iggy: “I think I helped wipe out the 60s!”
And if that wasn’t weird enough for you, here’s David Bowie and Henry Winkler (aka Fonzie) on Dinah a little while earlier.
