I finally got around to listening to the Bronx’s new self titled record (which looks like it’s the next in the Panda Bear > El Guincho album cover progression) and like what I found. Some of my coworkers are dyed-in-the-wool Bronx fans — this one might push me further into their camp.
MP3: The Bronx - Past Lives
I guess the best way that I could describe the Bronx’s new s/t album is that it’s like Against Me!’s last record, but with more balls. That’s right, I said more balls. They kept the thrashing punk riffs and slight pop influences, but definitely cranked up the balls on this one. Man, I really wish I’d have written this before the album came out so they could put a sticker on it that said “LIKE AGAINST ME, BUT WITH MORE BALLS. - YOU AIN’T NO PICASSO” That, however, is a pipe dream that will never happen.
