Tilly and the Wall @ Monolith 9.14.08

There are tons of reasons to love Tilly and the Wall. I, myself, pick a classic one: they make darn good music. “Pot Kettle Black” is one of my favorite songs of 2008 and the rest of their new album O are hits as well. But like I said, their fans have a wide variety of reasons from which to pick why they’re in love with them; and Tilly’s Monolith set brought out every one of those.

Let’s get that first reason out of the way, shall we? The girls of Tilly and the Wall are cute as a button. There’s a reason why these photos focus less on rawk and more on “awww…” Watching the three girls laugh, dance and sing was a real treat — BUT that’s not to say they were without anything to back it up. Like I said, these girls and guys write some killer songs.

As predicted, all the new songs sounded fantastic live. More than that, even, it was clear that the audience had been listening. “Pot Kettle Black” turned into a triumphant singalong and “Tall Tall Grass” got a reaction as well. But the fans had a good memory too; their old hits like “Nights of the Living Dead” got big applause and interaction.
