First of all, let me just say how shocked I was when the Ruby Suns came out. I thought they were a full band, like the Bees or something, not a couple from New Zealand. But I really like their new record, so it made everything ok.
Initial shock aside, I really liked their performance. They were clearly having fun with the show and it made it easier for the audience to reflect their excitement back to them. I was bummed that I couldn’t stick around much longer, but with a festival like Pitchfork, sticking around for the whole set means you’re missing other great music.
