I got a nice education on Against Me! the other day from a friend. We were discussing backlash by their hardcore fans on their last album New Wave, which I enjoyed a good deal. He told me that their fans called them sell outs for signing to Fat Wreck records since the band had once claimed that they’d never release anything with a barcode on it. However, mix in the fact that the band were allegedly charging for their autograph at a merch signing at Bonnaroo and you’ve got a very confusing situation.

During confusing moral gray areas like this, I usually just shut up and judge things on the music and performance. Lucky for Against Me!, since they totally rock out in those areas. And not every old fan of theirs is pissed at the moment; they had hundreds of screaming fans at their Bonnaroo shouting out every word to every song. Though they weren’t the best band I saw at Bonnaroo, they probably had the best crowd response.
