Elephant 6 superstars and Lexington heroes the Apples in Stereo are planning a summer tour that takes them from the bluegrass to the Pitchfork Music Festival and all the way up to New York for their first full-band performance on the Colbert Report. Along the way they’ll be joined by Big Fresh, Poison Control Center and Earlimart.

Longtime Apples or Colbert fans might recall that Robert has already made an appearance on the show as part of the Colbert vs Decemberists “Guitarmageddon.” The song “Stephen, Stephen” was a huge hit and made it onto their rarities compilation. In an interview he and I did last year, he explained that “it’s kind of psychedelic to write a song about a tv host.”
