The PDX Pop Now! compilation is full of all sorts of exclusive goodness. You may remember Blitzen Trapper as releasing one of last year’s best records, recording one of my favorite Daytrotter sessions or their sweet performance at our Hot Freaks! SXSW party. But PDX is giving you something new from them: this unreleased track “Crushing the Wheat.”

Sometimes you hear an unreleased song and say “oh, this was obviously unreleased for a reason.” Not the case with “Crushing the Wheat.” It’s a soft tune of theirs, far more in line with “Futures & Folly” than “Miss Spiritual Tramp,” but still brings the fire of their full length.
