Arguably the best part about FreeKY fest was the second stage. When the main one wasn’t leaving your jaw on the floor, you could count on the second stage to bring the freaky to the fest. My first foray to that performance space was to experience one of the best things of the day: middle school breakdancers.
Yeah, you read that right. A group of middle schoolers showed off their breakdance moves while a WRFL DJ alum spun a few records before coming over to join them. Big Fresh/Apple in Stereo’s John Ferguson said it best: “Can you imagine being in eighth grade and having the courage to get up there and do that?”
