I missed My Brightest Diamond at last year’s MusicNOW festival and I’ve been kicking myself for it ever since. I’ve heard that Shara turns up the passion in her performances, even though her records make me wonder how she could dial it up any further. I’ve always thought of Shara’s approach to vocals and production as sort of a one-woman American answer to Sigur Ros — “Inside a Boy” only furthers that notion in my mind. She does, however, expand upon her soft and stirring song basis by adding in a few riffs that actually sound like they’d be quite rocking with the volume turned up.
