The Bang on a Can All-Stars wasn’t exactly what I expected. The name conjured up memories of watching the Stomp Out Loud! video in my music class as a pre-teen, but the band is actually more akin to a really awesome live soundtrack. Unfortunately I was a little too tired/hungry to get the full impact of the show, but I did enjoy it. MusicNOW organizer-slash-National guitarist Bryce Dessner filled in on guitar, while guest Glen Kotche of Wilco treated us to two of his compositions: one was a Stax records-inspired piece that was actually set to premier in a week in North Carolina and the other was the title track of his album Mobile; both were wonderful.
