Man Man: “Hurly / Burly”

April 4th, 2008 by Matt

Man Man’s Rabbit Habits comes out this Tuesday and the only way I could be more excited is if I hadn’t heard it already. Six Demon Bag was an amazing record, but I think this one might top it. Here’s another new one from one of the few bands who sound great in the studio and better live (speaking of which, they’re on tour until June).

You know, I feel really sorry for anyone who gets asked to direct a music video for Man Man. I mean, other than doing one of those that are just a recording of the band playing. That guy’s job is easy: set up camera, walk away. No, I feel bad for anyone who has to try to come up with artistic vision enough to match Man Man’s highly stylized world. Every instrument in Man Man’s new material has as much of a personality as the wild members of their band — and that’s quite a bit. You know, there’s a reason that each track on Rabbit Habits makes me go “oh right, this is the great song on the record.” Nope. They’re all fantastic.

Man Man on Myspace

When going to Man Man’s myspace page, I found out that they’d uploaded their cover of the Weeds theme song “Little Boxes.” It’s easily the best version on the show. Check it out!
