Mixel Pixel surprised the stuffing out of me the other day by sending me a copy of a new record that I didn’t even know they were working on. Not only are they done with it (and it’s good), but they also have a string of tour dates that takes them through my neck of the woods. Check out this new slice from Let’s Be Friends, then see them at a venue near you!

Call it residual Juno impact on my part, but I’m going to go ahead and compare this cute tune to the Moldy Peaches’ “Anyone Else But You.” It’s a fuzzy, sparse little downtempo duo that walks the line between being cutely optimistic (“I’ll quit my job and go back to school. / I’ll break the law if you’ll break the rules.”) and a healthy dose of realism.

Funny Note: they say in this song that their parents died/divorced. However, the title track opens with a made-me-laugh-out-loud recantation of those previous claims. Funny, since I wondered if that was true while writing this entry.
