I’ll admit a little bit of disappointment when I saw that Jens had brought only one maiden with him. When I saw him play Pitchfork two years ago, he had at least five girls decked out in virginal white. But what he lacked in backing beauties, he made up for with intimacy and that lovable spirit that his fans have come to enjoy so much.

We got treated to most of my favorites of his, including the full-story version of “Postcard to Nina.” Also I have to say that, though the horn section was sorely missed on it, “Sweet Summer’s Night on Hammer Hill” is one of my favorite live songs. Dozens of people yelling out “bum ba bum ba bum” while Jens mimes the beating of his heart is something each of his fans should get to experience at least once.
