[SXSW] The Cool Kids @ Gorilla vs Booze
March 18th, 2008 by Matt

This was a big ol’ hip-hop SXSW for me. Perfect, then, that the first fantastic show I caught in the sunny state of Texas was the Cool Kids. I hadn’t really heard them before, but was immediately won over by Do the Right Thing references and their declaration of being the “black version of the Beastie Boys.” The show was packed, so naturally they stood on chairs through the whole performance. Their only mistake? Picking some enthusiastic fans to hold the wobbly chairs. Any time they said “throw your hands in the air!” the girls obliged and the duo nearly toppled. They learned pretty quickly to cut that line from their show.
