At SXSW. Enjoy the cover

Here’s another little cover I haven’t highlighted in a while. Bishop Allen doing Fugazi? Makes sense once you know that Justin Rice was big into Black Flag and Fugazi as a youngster, but otherwise, who’d have thunk?

Bishop Allen covering the Talking Heads, Jonathon Richman, and even to some extent Johnny Cash didn’t really surprise me. But Fugazi? I didn’t see it coming. Well, since this recording is from 2004, I should probably say that I would never have guessed. But like all their other covers, it’s great. There’s something about Christian’s bouncy, treble-filled guitar that just really perks up any song into something cute. I’m not sure that’s what Fugazi were going for, but if the song’s still good, then who cares.

Word has it that Bishop Allen are recording another record this year. Will it be released in 08? Only time will tell.
