Boy howdy, is Joseph Arthur one productive fella. He plans to celebrate 2008 by releasing four EPs, culminating with another full-length with his band the Lonely Astronauts. The first, “Could We Survive,” kicks off with this little song right here.

This is a way more calm and introspective song than I was expecting. Admittedly, I haven’t been following Joseph Arthur obsessively as of late, but it seemed like he was headed towards a bit more rock. That said, it’s a really enjoyable song. This is the kind of song that I’d like to see him play solo somewhere with a respectfully quiet crowd — and it’s the kind of song that deserves that treatment as well.
