I wound up watching Tilly and the Wall’s Daytrotter live video Q&A while at Noise Pop. Seeing those adorable Omahans answer fan’s questions made me remember that I’d just downloaded Flowers Forever’s debut album. Of course I realized this after they mentioned that it was Derek’s solo project, which I hadn’t known. Hat’s off to him on this one.

This sounds like how sunshine probably tastes. A perfect summertime prep, Flowers Forever’s “Beach Bum” sings of a simpler life full of sun, surf and sand. It’s like Bright Eyes and the Beach Boys skipping through the dunes, holding hands.
