If you didn’t know, I’m probably the internet’s biggest Boy Least Likely To fan. So of course I’m crazily excited for TBLLT’s new record, due out this summer. “Balloon on a Broken String” is a beautiful, bittersweet celebration of the independence that comes after heartbreak. One the one hand, they rejoice in the freedom (”I drift carelessly on that summer breeze. I bounce above the trees.”) but they know it comes at the cost of a part of yourself (”I try to be cheerful, but I can feel myself deflating all the time.”) The chorus is just crafted for the younger crowd, with its sugar-coated melody that’ll have you singing along by the second time through. This is easily one of my most anticipated records of 2008.
