I’d hate to rank all the covers of this song, but I will say that this one has a magic that few others seem to have. Yeah, there’s the added bonus that Michael and Whitney are a couple, but it’s more than just that. Their voices play so well off each other that they really don’t need any more instruments than they have. After a pause long enough to just barely trick you into thinking its an ending, they jump back in with background harmonies, whistling and a tambourine. It’s magical and enough to make even me believe in Valentines.
