The show the won me over: Ghostland Observatory at Lollapalooza

Ghostland Observatory are two-for-two on sweet shows that I’ve been fortunate enough to catch. First there was their show at Lollapalooza which first introduced me to the band. Then there was their overflowingly packed tent show at Voodoo fest. Their live show is a party in a bag, but how’s the old studio treating the band? Apparently pretty well, as the group are ready to release Robotique Majestique on Feb 26. Here’s an early cut and some tour dates:

“Heavy Heart” starts off with a beat and a bleep that sounds like what a submarine’s sonar would sound like if Justice were in charge of the ship. From there it adds backing sounds that I can only describe as dropping Daft Punk’s helmet down your kitchen sink. Impossible? Not for Ghostland Observatory. It’s unfortunately no “Sad Sad City” (their show-stopper with no neighbors in quality), but it’s still a good jam.
