I’ve always wondered what it would be like to see the Features in Nashville. I just have to assume that when those guys play their hometown, things get exciting. Their show Saturday at the Dame was probably as close as I’ll ever get. The Features have accepted Lexington as their home away from home, and treated us to a lengthy set, encore, new and old songs, and a sweet cover.
MP3: The Features - Wooden Heart
The first big shock of the night was that Features lead singer Matthew Pelham was sporting a very healthy looking beard. I meant to ask him if it was a strike beard, but I had to run after the show.

The band played for a long time, and the setlist benefited greatly because of it. They played all their biggies from Exhibit A and the “Contrast” EP, as well as several older songs. I believe we got “Walk You Home” and “Two By Two” from “The Beginning” EP.
There were a few new tunes as well, including “Temporary Blues,” but the real treat was the cover. Two songs into the encore, all four Features huddled up to discuss their next (and last) move. Then, to my surprise, they whipped out a cover of Supertramp’s “Breakfast in America.” Sweeeeet!
