I was going through my iTunes and making a playlist of covers for future enjoyment and reference. I’ve stumbled upon several that I don’t recall (Belle and Sebastian doing Dinosaur Jr??) and some I’d hoped to forget (Cake doing “Strangers in the Night”), but this is one that I just hadn’t played in a while. Here’s the Decemberists’ Colin Meloy doing Echo and the Bunnymen’s “Bring on the Dancing Horses.”

Colin and the Decemberists have done just about more covers than any group I have in my collection (way to set the curve, Of Montreal!). I am, however, without a good copy of their covers of “The Weight” by the band (with Mavis Staples at Bonnaroo) and the Smiths’ “Ask.” If you’ve got that, or any other rarities, feel free to lay ‘em on me!
