This track is from Portastatic’s Be Still Please, which came out last year. I wrote a bit on it and even arranged for the group to play in Lexington (great show — they covered the Magnetic Fields’ “Josephine”). What I didn’t do, however, was fully appreciate this record until just now. I’ve been listening to it on and off for over a year, and it’s really grown on me. “I’m In Love (With Arthur Dove)” is a particularly great piece of pop songwriting. The chorus is so fantastically happy that Mac can only further express his elation by changing keys.Now that’s joy.
