YANP-heartthrob and favorite chanteuse Ivana XL has done it again. Her new song “White White” reminded me why I fell in love in the first place (not that she’d ever given me cause to forget). Ivana promises her album will be done by Valentine’s day. Hint hint, record labels.

“White White” is a step out of the norm for Ivana, but I’ve got to say that I embrace it. The intro sounds like some Jeff Buckley waltz, and the rest is the same Cat Power vocals with Leonard Cohen lyrics that you’ve come to enjoy from her prior work. You know that speech in High Fidelity about wanting to marry a singer so she’d write cute references to you into her songs? That’s how Ivana’s music makes me feel.
