MP3: The Lovely Feathers – Rusty (new; live)
I am so thrilled to announce that the Lovely Feathers haven’t broken up and aren’t finished. In fact, they posted some new (studio but unmastered) songs on their Myspace page. They’re currently without a label, so any of you record releasing folks out there should note these sweet free agents and their awesome songs. Meanwhile, an explanation from the band:
wow. its been a long time. sorry.
well we did finish the recordings a while ago. Unfortunately, due to numerous factors, our label stop seeing eye to eye with us, and basically opted not to support or put out the album. (To the label’s defense, we were a relatively unreliable, and unstable band, where several key members departed without much notice. They are currently happy, and diligent in their studies.)
The album has chilled in the freezer ever since. It was sad. But legally, we couldn’t really do anything about it. We saluted the project, and moved on with our lives. Well recently, our label contacted us saying our contractual duties are over, and that they wouldn’t hold us back regarding our unreleased recorded material. Well this was a bit of shocker, and for the first time in 6 months, we listened to the tracks. With the significant period of distance, the album was nostalgic, and almost removed. I don’t even remember recording the fuckin thing, so ya, the songs were a pleasant surprise.
We played some of the tunes on our tours—some of the album will probably be quite recognizable. Right now, though, given the surprise, we don’t really know what to do with the tracks. We want to release them, but don’t really have any money to manufacture CDs. Maybe we’ll do the radiohead thing, and put it on our site. We might have to charge $3 because the songs definitely need to get mastered, and it would be nice to have album art, and a case. Your contributions will fund these tasks.
I’m actually thinking of these options as I write them, so they might not happen. Im sure about the new tracks on myspace though
Take a listen, give us some feedback, and hopefully enjoy
Keep well,
Thockle.
