Black Rebel Motorcycle Club @ Voodoo 10.26.07

October 30th, 2007

This past weekend I was flown in to New Orleans by their tourism department so that I could have the opportunity to cover the Voodoo Music Festival. While the city was still reasonably wet from the rains earlier in the week, they had the festival grounds mostly dry for the start of our Friday festivities. There were a few muddy patches (including one in a photo pit — score!), but it wasn’t anything beyond the ordinary to expect from festivals or the deep south. The weather was actually pretty kind, as I’d just come out of the increasingly cold state of Kentucky.

MP3: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Aint No Easy Way

Clad in shorts and a tshirt, I trudged onto the festival grounds to catch Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. That first part turned out to be a mistake, as I wished for more layers around sunset; however, BRMC didn’t disappoint. I showed up just in time for “Ain’t No Easy Way,” one of my favorite of the group’s songs. I didn’t have long to soak in their sound, unfortunately, because I’d mistakenly wandered into the photo pit past the allotted time. Still, they sounded great. Also my curiosity for how they managed to endure the midday heat in their black outfits would go unmatched until Fall Out Boy showed up in full winter fashionisto attire.
