I decided that this time around, instead of posting cover songs while I’m at the festival, I’ll do a few posts of my favorite songs with “yeah” in the title. Maybe I’ll toss in a few cover songs too, depending on how the night goes, but I’ll at least do a few of these. What better song to start with than LCD Soundsystem’s “Yeah?”

I didn’t realize the full driving impact of this song until I heard it live at Lollapalooza. Face to face, James really lets the “yeah”s fly full force until they’re piling up on you like some Schoolhouse Rocks animation. Best song in their discography to inspire a dance-riot? Probably. It’s not got the fame of “Daft Punk…” or the riff of “North American Scum,” but it’s got enough force to power through its nine-plus minutes without allowing you to stop for a breath.
