I’m just now getting to soak in Saturday Looks Good to Me’s new record. I haven’t heard Fred Thomas’ solo record from earlier this year, but I hear it’s quite the bee’s knees as well.
MP3: Saturday Looks Good to Me – Make A Plan
I got to see SLGTM in the spring of this year and they played a fair amount of new material. This being their K Records debut, I’m not terribly surprised at the sound. I’m not enough of an expert in their discography to make comparisons, but this record feels a lot less 60s than previous ones have. Additionally most of it is slower than normally. I can’t use the word “mature” to describe this and still take myself seriously, so I’ll just say that it’s more inviting, but less sugar-coated and accessible.
