Black Francis: “Lolita”

October 11th, 2007 by Matt

Charles Thompson is all killer, no filler. I finally got a chance to listen to Black Francis’ Blue Finger this weekend and loved it.

MP3: Black Francis – Lolita
It’s getting really cold around Lexington. The last two days have been an unfortunate lesson that the seasons don’t care about your comfort. Wearing shorts and still have wet hair from the shower? Welcome to the coldest, windiest day in months. Similarly Black Francis’ “Lolita” is a cutting blast of air to your face. The verses hold a brutally true message of the toughness of life. It’s rough and unforgiving. However, the song is sweet — as we hope life often is — so it’s not a loss. Now if I could just always have that harmonica solo playing during my chilly walk to class…

Lullabyes got engaged! Go send him some congrats!
