Elliott the Letter Ostrich: “Zombie Outbreak”

October 6th, 2007 by Matt

Last night I was driving home from Enon with some friends and wound up talking about Elliott the Letter Ostrich. I told my friends that their album Blood Cape was just fantastic and sounded like Meatloaf and the Unicorns teaming up to write funny songs about vampires. When I got home, I figured up their myspace and found out that they’d released a new album! Camelot Versus the Phantasmagoria is just about the best thing you could possibly get before Halloween.

The appealing thing about ELO is that it’s just so easy. It’s easy to close your eyes and picture the lobotomized Meatloaf from the Rocky Horror Picture Show singing “Zombie Outbreak” amid a small army of greaser zombies. It shouldn’t be, but it is. And it’s still fairly easy to see “Let Me Be Your Wolfman” as a companion to Marbles’ Cars-inspired Halloween tune “Dracula.” See? Music should always be this easy.
