Robert Pollard is releasing two albums this year: Coast To Coast Carpet Of Love, his Beatles work; and Standard Gargoyle Decisions, the Stones of the two. That’s right, two album and not normal name between them. Luckily for Pollard he can back up his wild titles with great tunes.
MP3: Robert Pollard - Rud Fins
MP3: Robert Pollard - The Killers
Let’s tackle “Rud Fins” first. Though it’s billed as part of the Beatles’ bunch (read: pop music), it feels more like a collaboration between Michael Stipe and Bruce Springsteen; but at the same time, it wouldn’t have been that out of place on Bee Thousand. As for “The Killers” and its Stones vibe (read: raw rawk), Bob’s channeling the Stooges and anyone who ever even considered kicking an amp.
Also, if anyone in the Lexington area wants a You Ain’t No Picasso shirt, there are sizes medium and large available at CD Central for under $10!
