Looks like the random spunkiness of the Flaming Lips’ youth has finally combined with the space-aged funk of their golden years. And what does that union sound like? Not unlike the good tracks on At War with the Mystics. “…Super Lucky Rainbow” is a light-hearted pop romp that results after snorting a few lines of synthesizer riffs. The chorus is the clear winner, with its insistence that you (or Chuck, whoever) are a lucky man. Listen closely for the cursing call that closes out the chorus. One day they’ll get tired of the mf-word, but thankfully it isn’t today.
