A Mix For Californication

September 10th, 2007 by Matt

One of my coworkers just introduced me to David Duchovny’s new series Californication and I’m hooked. I watched the first four episodes last night and can’t wait for the fifth. The basic plot is that Duchovny is a writer living in LA who wants to get back together with his ex-girlfriend and form a family with their daughter. Throw in a level of explitives worthy of Tarantino and Duchovny’s sex scenes with nearly every woman who walks in front of the camera and you’ve got a show that perfectly straddles the line between hilariousness and heartbreak. Also, their use of My Morning Jacket’s cover of “Rocket Man” was the best possible score to one of the sadder moments so far in the series.
