Doveman: “Chasing Clouds”
September 3rd, 2007 by Matt

Doveman is one of those few musicians that I’ve heard nothing but good things about, but had until very recently not heard. His new album With My Left Hand I Raise the Dead, afforded me the opportunity and didn’t disappoint. It’s fantastic and beautiful, like Sufjan and David Bazan covering Sigur Ros compositions. Confused? Good.
MP3: Doveman – Chasing Clouds
The whole of With My Left Hand… is confusing in the way that life is confusing: you can’t really get it until it’s over. Even while the beauty of “Chasing Clouds” is unfolding in its slow, melodic way, you can just tell that it’s a part of something great. It makes me want to close my eyes and dream — which is quite the risky move at 3AM. I could be asleep in no time. But even if I did accidentally fall asleep, I’d sleep peacefully knowing that Doveman will be waiting for me when I awaken.
