I’m getting fairly excited for MGMT’s new album, Oracular Spectacular out on Columbia (???) They’ve been adding sneak previews, demos and other goodies to their Myspace page, which has the distinction of being the highest ratio of good-band-to-terrible-layout of any on the site. Good job, fellas.
Anyways, they just put up a new tune called “Weekend Wars” that I haven’t stopped listening to for the past half hour. If you’ll allow me to throw out band names and see what sticks: I’d suggest it for fans of Sunset Rubdown, Animal Collective or Wolf Parade. “Time to Pretend” is at the complete other end of the spectrum, though. It’s a bit more like their occasional tourmates, Of Montreal.
No MP3 for “Weekend Wars,” so you’ll have to stream it, but I’m assuming “Time to Pretend” is OK to post.
