It had been threatening to pour for most of Saturday, before finally letting lose shortly before Spoon’s set. The free Myspace bandanna did little to keep my head dry, but managed to wrap up my camera nicely. As the ran started coming down, I joked with those around me that I’d seen Spoon twice — one amazing show (Bonnaroo) and one that was OK (Pitchfork) — and wondered which was the fluke.

I don’t know how much “flukes” factor into Spoon’s live show, but they were pretty amazing at Lollapalooza. Waiting for them, I was a wreck: neurotic about my camera getting wet and none too thrilled to be standing in wet sand. But after they’d begun, I put all that aside and enjoyed one of the best shows of the fest. “Don’t You Evah” is my favorite off their new album, but man is it even better live. Britt Daniels and Co. are quickly becoming one of my favorite rock acts.
