I found this one through the Wolf Parade Forums. Magic Weapon is a Montreal band made up of members of Sunset Rubdown, Miracle Fortress and Shapes n Sizes. If you haven’t already skipped below to download it, nothing I can say here will do any more to encourage you.

There’s a raw energy to a lot of Montreal bands that I absolutely adore. Up there it seems that it doesn’t matter exactly how you do your thing, just so long as you throw yourself headlong into it with reckless abandon. Not surprisingly, the results are usually pretty sweet. Take Magic Weapon’s “Cloudy People” for example: it’s never once in danger of being a traditional pop song, but it doesn’t forfeit any of the catchiness usually associated with simpler structures. It’s Animal Collective meets Sunset Rubdown.

Magic Weapon’s EP will be available October 8. Sunset Rubdown’s Random Spirit Lover will be out in early October as well, and Miracle Fortress’ Five Roses is out now and highly suggested.
