Feist @ Bonnaroo 6.17.07

June 21st, 2007 · Comments Off

Feist is just adorable. If she and Regina Spektor ever shared a stage, I think it might rain puppies. All jokes aside, Feist’s show was fantastic. The crowd was completely into what she was doing, and she knew how to work it. At one point she picked three notes and assigned them to the audience [...]

Martha Wainwright @ Bonnaroo 6.17.07

June 21st, 2007 · Comments Off

Martha Wainwright was OK. It’d be kind of mean of me to say that I wish she’d have been replaced by her brother. So I won’t.
But just know that I’m thinking it.

The La’s: “I Can’t Sleep”

June 21st, 2007 · Comments Off

I’ve been listening to a lot of The La’s lately — this song in particular. The other day I took a nap with my computer on, and I woke up to the song “I Can’t Sleep.” I thought it was random chance, but now I’m sure my iTunes is just being cute.
MP3: The La’s [...]

The Decemberists @ Bonnaroo 6.17.07

June 21st, 2007 · Comments Off

I’m not sure if they were reading their setlist upside down, but the Decemberists opened with two of their perfect show-stopping closer numbers: the eight-plus minute “Mariner’s Revenge Song,” and “the Tain.” That’s right, I finally got to see them play “the Tain.”

Pete Yorn @ Bonnaroo 6.17.07

June 21st, 2007 · Comments Off

In the short time I managed to take in Pete Yorn, I didn’t get to hear “For Nancy” (one of my favorite songs in high school). What I did hear was just about everyone in the front row singing along to each and every song — especially “Life on a Chain.” Pete seemed to be [...]

The Flaming Lips @ Bonnaroo 6.16.07

June 20th, 2007 · Comments Off

With an hour to go before their scheduled performance time, Wayne and co. entered the stage and announced that they would be doing their “sound check.” As it turns out, that’s code for a full performance of “War Pigs” to treat those who would wind up waiting hours to see one of the world’s greatest [...]

The Police @ Bonnaroo 6.16.07

June 20th, 2007 · Comments Off

Color me quite surprised to have been able to see the reunited Police. Surprised and thankful. I never imagine I would be in a situation to see the group, but that’s the kind of magic you can expect from Bonnaroo. I didn’t get to see much of them, as I wanted a good spot for [...]
