Recap: There is no Jennifer Gentle. The band is actually Marco Fasolo, an Italian guy with a great ear for pop songs. He’s got a new album out on Sub Pop called The Midnight Room.

For a song so out in left field, “Take My Hand” is curiously familiar. Fasolo plays off of a simple, but jumpy, riff to create a tune that sounds like all those Halloween children’s songs like “John’s Ghost.” The chorus limps along on that broken leg of a riff while Fasolo cries for us to take his hand. It’s inviting, but I think I’ll sit this dance out and just enjoy the song.
