After posting on the Besties the other day, I remembered that I’d actually met them randomly doing my few days in NYC. I was with my dear friend Kathryn at what had to be the world’s best pizza parlor when they walked in. Unfortunately I didn’t know them very well then, but if I’m prepared now. I’m also not really sure where this story is headed, but the Besties have a new 7″ coming out that is definitely worth your time.

Between The Besties and The Eames Era, 2007 has become a good year for anyone searching for bands with that Rilo Kiley feel to them. On “Rod n’ Reel,” the Besties edge a tiny bit closer to twee pop, but keep strong in the vein of guy/girl pop groups like the Brunettes.
