As far as I’m concerned, the new Grumpy Bear / Sleepynaut split “Blande on Blande” might as well have had the subtitle “You’ll come for the Grumpy Bear, but you’ll stay for the Sleepynaut.” The album’s good, and Sleepynaut have tons of shining moments — kinda like this one.

I often hear songs with very simple structures and think, “Man, I could totally have written that.” I never did. No, I never wrote the next “North American Scum” or “Oh La La.” However, it looks like Sleepynaut are well on their way to being the next three-chord champs. “…Art of Metallurgy” kind of reminds me of oldschool Beck covering a The Information-era song.
