So the other day at work I was looking at our new releases wall and saw a small blue case of Menomena’s new “Wet and Rusting” EP. Not knowing that Menomena even had an EP planned, I snatched it up with no hesitation. Good thing too, because it’s got one of the best songs I’ve heard since … well, since Menomena’s full length came out earlier this year.
MP3: Menomena - Gay A
This song, confined to the middle of an EP, contains some of Menomena’s best lyrics, vocal work and saxophone riffs. I mean, just sample this opening line and tell me you can’t already tell it’s going to be a winner: “All my pathetic and small life I made big steps with small strides to fight what just feels right.” And for the next three minutes they weave their characteristicly off-kilter saxophone and drums overtop of a great bass line.
Guys, rest easy. They finally made a World of Warcraft Visa Rewards card. (via BB)
